Comments:
Yes, you may place my name on a list opposing HB07-1068. I drive a truck over the road for Schneider National. My wife and I own 7.5 acres in Elbert County. Even though, at this time, we are not in the StupidSlab corridor, we do oppose HB-1068 in its current form.

This last two years has been a nightmare with this thing and now here we go again. This new bill that is being proposed is such a journey backwards and we are just exhausted emotionally. I cannot possibly see the merits in the new proposal and wonder what on earth the thinking is, now that Marsha is in Denver. We all worked very hard in our own arena to convince people that she was the right "newby" to represent us because people in this district that lived in town and not on the plains were not necessarily convinced. To have the work already done undermined is very discouraging. The early warning in the HB1003 is what got so many more involved and mobilized at a stage that allowed action to try to stop this unnecessary "economic windfall" that has turned some of our lives upside down.

Rob, first, thanks very much for this thoughtful, thorough email. I really wish you would send this to all of the local newspapers up and down the front range with the hope they would print this, or contact you for an interview. My hope is that once people in and out of the toll road corridor understand how poorly written this bill is, they will ask for changes or for it to be scrapped altogether. Are you aware that some people who are in the current toll roll corridor hope this bill will take the "cloud" off of their land, thus enabling them to sell out without disclosure? I posed this question to an attorney because I feel it would be fraud to omit information regarding the toll road from a perspective buyer who may be completely unaware of what they are buying. If the route had not already been set, and the letters not sent out, then maybe there is a grey area here that would allow a seller to weasel out of disclosure. But now that all of this is public record I don't see how there could be no recourse for a buyer if they suddenly discovered they had just bought the farm, only to realize it sits on or near the prairie falcon corridor.
--------------------------------------------------
Saw your request for names to add to the list of anti-toll road Colorado voters; you can add me! We live in the corridor for the toll road in eastern El Paso county and think toll roads reflect the Denver politician mentality. They need to remember the rest of the state so we'll also be e-mailing them about the bill. Thanks for all your efforts!
--------------------------------------------------
As someone who has been involved on this issue for two years I oppose HB 1068 because it eliminates vital safeuards enacted into law last session.
--------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your constant vigilance and tenacious determination.
--------------------------------------------------
Please add my name to the list of those opposed to HB-1068. Thanks for your continued hard work!
--------------------------------------------------
Please feel free to add my name to the list of people opposed to HB-1068. And thank you for your continual research and communication on this issue.
--------------------------------------------------
In the best interests of the citizens of colorado and as a land and home owner in Peyton I support the opposition to HB-1068.
--------------------------------------------------
I don't live in Colorado but I own a 1/2 section in Arapahoe County, off of the Brick Center road. We all oppose HB-1068.
--------------------------------------------------
I oppose this bill because I believe that it would only give the toll road people the authority to sneak around our backs and try to get bills passed to help them and hurt the land owners. I want to know what is going on before the laws are passed not after when it is too late to do anything about it.
--------------------------------------------------
ELBERT COUNTY RESIDENTS FOR 15 YEARS, COLORADO RESIDENTS FOR 50 YEARS……IF IT ALREADY WORKS, DON’T FIX IT!
--------------------------------------------------
We are concerned about not being informed in the beginning of the development of toll roads. Concerns about loss of property value is a minor issue if the road is almost approved before land owners learn about it.
--------------------------------------------------
I don't want this bill to pass and I certainly don't want the "SUPER SLAB" or "STUPID SLAB". We have our land and don't want it taken away from us or our neighbors!!!!!!!!!!!!
--------------------------------------------------
Thanks for all your hard work and diligence. We appreciate it SO much!
--------------------------------------------------
Please put my name on your list for opposition for this stupid toll road stuff. I am 61 and own my land and home. I am a widow and am alone, and the last thing I need in this life is for some rich so and so to try to take away from me what I worked my whole life for. I am proud of you for all the hard work you and every one else is doing to protect the rights of our States Citizens.
--------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your diligence and letting us know. Otherwise, there are a great number of us that would not be able to find out these things.
--------------------------------------------------
Although I don't live in the corridor, I object to the HB1068. Having been involved in eminent domain matters for 55 years as a land development engineer, surveyor, planning director, developer, broker, I am disgusted with the outrageous definitions of public use. I recognize the super slab proposals as being a land speculation scam. I have been involved in the anti-eminent domain abuse campaign with Marsha Looper, Jessica Corry. et al, since the Eastern Plains folks joined with the Denver/Boulder suburban opposition, Sens. Shawn Mitchell, Mark Hillman, etc. The necessity for the petition campaign was frustrating, made necessary because after a 11-0 commitee endorsement the anti-abuse bill was amended to death. I will support the effort.
--------------------------------------------------
I purchased 41 acres in 2003 and built my retirement home on it here in Kersey.
--------------------------------------------------
I'm appalled at the shifting sands of this proposed toll road. Landowners on the eastern plains need protection from the schemes of Ray Wells.
--------------------------------------------------
You may include my name in your list of those opposed to this bill. We are not in the toll road corridor, but also know that we could be at any time living between the plains and Colorado Springs.
--------------------------------------------------
Please defeat any measure that allows for the Toll Road company to TAKE our property, and deny our PROPERTY RIGHTS!!! This is the people's fight and anyone who helps defeat the Toll Road company is a friend of us voters and will not be forgotten!! The Toll Road company likely won't pay full market value for our dream retirement property. We must ensure the full property rights of people who live in Colorado from private companies as a for profit entity. Please help the biggest LAND GRAB in HISTORY, to be defeated, and ensure that the people of Colorado, are too important to have some outfit like the Toll Road steal our dreams and beautiful prairie.
--------------------------------------------------
While we're not within the 3-mile swath, we understand that having any iteration of the toll road between us and Colorado Springs will negatively affect the quality of the life we have chosen out on the eastern plains. We also realize that there's a potentially greater impact overall for the residents of the state of Colorado (and beyond) if we allow the state to override the rights of property owners for the profit of private developers.
--------------------------------------------------
Thanks for providing us with information over the past year and a half or so. Some of the opinions expressed have not exactly mirrored my own, but it's always interesting to hear what others are saying. Ignorance may be bliss, but it's never won anyone the advantage!
--------------------------------------------------
My wife and I are highly opposed to HB-1068 (toll road). We feel that the State of Colorado should fund all roads without outside money. What else is their job but to fund and administer these sort of projects? Have they forgotten?
--------------------------------------------------
We should let sleeping dogs lie and give previously passed legislation a chance to work.
--------------------------------------------------
I am so glad you are keeping everyone on the superslab site informed and up to date on everything that is going on. Thank you for the good work.
--------------------------------------------------
We are opposed to the current HB-1068. I am sure Ms. Looper's intentions are to help those of us affected by "The Toll" but she needs to revisit this and make necessary amendments in order to protect the progress we have already made.
--------------------------------------------------
You may certainly add my name and my wife's name to your list of those who oppose this ridiculous bill.
--------------------------------------------------
This land [Bravo Bend Wildlife Sanctuary] is protected by the Humane Society of the United States Wildife Land trust. It can never be developed, must be left in its natual state, and all animals, regardless of species, are protected. That is, until eminent domain land grabs reared their ugly heads.
--------------------------------------------------
We are most certainly in opposition to the present bill - I'll be at the meeting today as well to represent both of us.
--------------------------------------------------
We are very much apposed to this Bill #HB-1068, this is family owned land and we have no intentions to give it up for any price.
--------------------------------------------------
I oppose HB-1068, currently I reside in El Paso County. I don't believe that the toll road will benefit anyone other than the investors of the toll road company.
--------------------------------------------------
Please add our names to your list of people opposing HB-1068. We own property just outside of the Stupidslab, but are very interested in protecting CO from this type of landgrabbing.
--------------------------------------------------
I'm sick of corporations having the right to cloud titles. This toll road was found to be unfeasible by CDOT and yet they persist. Please stick to your guns and get rid of this ill conceived toll road once and for all and let the people of the eastern plains live in peace. There's not enough water to support such a project and there never will be - END OF DISCUSSION!
--------------------------------------------------
Add me to this list please and keep doing what you are doing. It helps.
--------------------------------------------------
TOTALLY UNHAPPY with HB 1068. Lets not make these things 'secret' until it's too late to protect OUR properties. Didn't WE pay for them with hard earned money? Do they belong to US? Or are these properties up for grabs from anyone who wants to make a buck?!
--------------------------------------------------
Hi Rob, You can put our names on the list of people opposed to HB - 1068. We live in Adams county and have land in Elbert County. We also have property that we really like and would like to buy but it is in the 3 mile strip. Thank you for you work and we will help in anyway we can.
--------------------------------------------------
I am very concern by HB1068 and the reversal it will bring to all the hard work that was done last year to prevent this trampling on our property.
--------------------------------------------------
If it were my land that was in the tollroad path ( as it was at one time), I would rather know as early as possible. This would enable me to adequately assess my options and decide on my plan of action. Learning at the stage this change proposes profits only the tollroad by limiting my options and the time I have to prepare. Landowners will be trapped in a corner with few options left but to sell at a low price the land they have worked for for years. This is not in the best interest of the landowner but is only in the interest of the tollroad.
--------------------------------------------------
Thank you for all the work that you do.
--------------------------------------------------
There are better ways and areas less-habitated to do this. You are ruining lives, generations of lives, and stealing livlihoods from those that need and have earned it the most. You are destroying the environment and the creatures that inhabit it. You show no respect, care, or consideration, just greed.
